Galleri Gro, Jakobstad, Finland
In collaboration with Maria Westerlund. Performance and installation.
The work is the result of a performance where Väinö Linna's novel "The Unknown Soldier"* is censored with black ink.
The title of the art work "Tystnaden" (The Silence) is on one hand a referral to the silence that descended on many of the Finnish men who participated in the Finnish Winter War during WW II, but at the same time also a comment to our increasingly tough society where xenophobia increasingly is met with passive silence.
* Linna's novel "The Unknown Soldier" sparked heated debate and was censored when it was published 1954
